3D Motion Reel 2023
In the summer of 2023 I went freelance and started Barry Creative. This reel was the first thing the studio put out: 99 seconds of the 3D work I had made so far, ending on the mark the studio still uses.

Four weeks in the summer of 2023.
Going freelance and starting the studio happened in one stretch: a product study, a mark and a reel. Every date here comes from the original project files.
- HyperTAKA concept handheld, designed and rendered as a personal product study. It opens the reel and returns at 1:02.
- The first BOne tube looping into a letter. Rendered on 23 June, rebuilt in Cinema 4D on the 25th, drawn on Acid on the 26th.
- Wordmark and end cardThe spline B in metal and the BARRYcreative wordmark, set in white for the reel’s last frame.
- The reel shipsThirty shots cut to one track in a square frame. The studio’s first piece.
- After the reelThe corkscrew logo animation on 14 July, then the HyperTAK launch films.
Two bodies of work, one cut.
Eighteen shots are client work made at Whiskey Design and carry its credit in the corner, as they did in 2023. The rest are personal studies, and the last frame is the new mark.

One B since 2023.
The reel ends on a single tube that loops into a letter. Three years on, the site’s opening, the film ident and Material B are all that same B, rebuilt from the July 2023 scene.
What held up, and what the next reel changes.
Three years of client work later, the 2023 reel is a clear record of where the studio started. Rewatching it shaped the plan for the 2026 reel.

- ChangesAlmost every cut lands on the same 3.3-second beat. The new reel cuts to the action.
- ChangesTwang appears six times. The new reel shows each project once, at its best.
- ChangesSquare only. The new reel is built for 16:9, vertical and square from the start, and opens on the ident.
